About the Jobs:
Work at Maatschap P.C. Bijlsma and J.C. Bijlsma-van den Heuvel from May to July mainly involves harvesting peonies in the field. During this period, peonies are in bloom, and employees are responsible for picking them at the right moment – when the flowers are fully developed but still in good condition for transport and sale.
Scope of duties:
- Flower picking: Employees hand-pick peonies from the field, which requires precision to avoid damaging the delicate flowers.
- Selection: The harvested peonies are sorted either in the field or in the hall, where they are assessed for quality, size, and stage of bloom.
- Preparation for transport: The flowers are packed into special crates that protect them during transportation to customers or wholesalers.
This job can be physically demanding, as it takes place outdoors, often in varying weather conditions. Physical endurance and the ability to work at a fast pace are required to keep up with production during the peak harvest season.
Expected working hours: Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 17:00.
Job offer requirements:
- Availability to work for at least 3-6 months.
- Motivation to work: Overtime and Saturday work may be required during busy periods. During quieter periods, willingness to work for other clients is expected.
- Couples and friends are not guaranteed to work in the same department or shift. Work schedules are assigned individually.
- Candidates who start from September onwards are expected to work during the Christmas and New Year period.
