Company information: Van der Slot Lisse is a small but professional bulb nursery passionately focused on growing tulips and daffodils. From January to April, the company also runs a tulip shop offering unique varieties planted in high-quality potting soil.
The company has existed for over 250 years as a family business, reflecting its deep commitment to trade and nature. Formerly known as J.Th.M. van der Slot & Zn, it now operates under the name Van der Slot – Lisse.
During the 2016 and 2017 tulip seasons, the nursery won 2nd place in the Royal Flora Holland tulip trials, competing among 120 participants.
About the Jobs:
Work at Van der Slot Lisse involves a variety of tasks focused on the cultivation, harvesting and sale of tulip and daffodil bulbs. Here are some key aspects:
- Cultivation: Employees are responsible for planting, caring for and watering the bulbs. This requires knowledge of horticultural techniques and maintaining optimal growth conditions.
- Harvesting: During the tulip and daffodil season, employees are responsible for picking the flowers. This task requires precision to ensure that the flowers are in perfect condition for sale.
- Quality control: An important part of the work is evaluating the quality of bulbs and flowers to ensure that only the best varieties reach the customers.
Additional information:
- January to May: Tulip and bouquet picking – work is outdoors until March, then continues in the warehouse/greenhouse.
- Mid-June to end of September: Bulb peeling on the production floor.
- October to Christmas: Tulip planting indoors.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, from 07:30 to 17:00.
Job offer requirements:
- Availability to work for at least 3-6 months.
- Motivation to work: Overtime and Saturday work may be required during busy periods. During quieter periods, willingness to work for other clients is expected.
- Couples and friends are not guaranteed to work in the same department or shift. Work schedules are assigned individually.
- Candidates who start from September onwards are expected to work during the Christmas and New Year period.
